Happy Easter. Jack and I went swimming at the local public pool today and had fun. We are both paying for it now. We are surprised by how exhausted we are. It will get easier - that is my mantra. Anyway these little chicks are tweeting Happy Easter to all.
Hi- this card was made by Donna Mato,i my Stampin Up demonstrator. I am always fascinated by cards that have unique folds. I will have to try some myself. I like the spring colors and since Easter is on its way I thought I would post this card.

To make the card you just fold the top of your card diagonally, then add something in the corner (in this card it is the green tag and greeting) mounted on foam tape to hold the folded part of the card up.

Happy Spring,

Many years ago my husband and I hosted Japanese students who came to the U.S. to learn
English. Every time we answered their question with "maybe" they were sure we meant no. In this case though I think I have retired. However, I may be wrong - it wouldn't be the first time.

I know that I have not posted in ages, but I am resolved to get back to it. I hope to figure out my video camera and post a video or two. I have been crafting a bit and hope to start really getting back big time.

What are you playing with theses days? Any new exciting products you love? I recently resisted buying some new Anna Griffin embossing folders, but I may not last much longer.

Happy St. Paddy's Day,

I signed up for an unusual (to me) swap with my online crafty group. The leader of the group is a BIG Ray Bradbury fan and after hearing of his recent passing she just had to propose a swap using him as inspiration. I confess to being mostly unfamiliar with Mr. Bradbury's work, but I needed something to get my creative juices flowing so decided why not. I knew that he wrote "The Martian Chronicles" and saw these little guys that looked like all the other Martian's that I know and decided to go with them (the stamps are made by Close To My Heart). As a bonus it gave me a chance to try, once again, to get the hang of shading with Copic markers, I know I still need more practice, but hang in with me and if I live long enough I may just catch on. I made the background paper from a list of Mr. Bradbury's work which I found on his website. I hope my online ladies see Martian's too or I may get some raised eyebrows with this one.
Metoka made this great Father's Day card which took me back to my childhood. My mom had a 1955 Buick Century convertable. It was white with a black rag top and red leather seats. She loved that car, drove way too fast and boy would it shimmy! Apparently a flaw in Buick's suspension system at that time. Eventually she gave it to my dad and he drove it for a long time before he got rid of it. I am not really a car person, but for some reason I really remember that particular car from my childhood. If I had the stamp I would make this card myself and send it to my dad for Father's day. I bet he remembers it too!

Wanda Made this masculine card using a Tim Holtz die and perhaps some punches for the tags. All of the pieces of the suitcase are included in Tim's die though. She used an embossing folder on the suitcase and lots of distress ink to give the card that well travelled look. I did not take a photo, but she did the back too - what a gal! I think this would make a terrific bon voayage card personalized with the recipient's name on one of the tags. The gals in my monthly craft group are so creative.

This masculine card was made by Donna and even though it says happy birthday that could easily be changed to happy father's day or ... I know that this photo is not so good, but Donna made the background by glueing aluminum foil to cardstock and then running it through a cuttlebug embossing folder (I think she used houndstooth). I thought that it would made a wrinkled mess, but as it turns out even though you have wrinkles when you first glue the aluminum foil to the cardstock, putting it in the embossing folder and running it through the machine irons it out as well as embossing it so it comes out pristine - all freshly ironed and starched.

Happy June to all!
I know I haven't posted in ages. My life has been very busy. My local stamp group did a swap this month of masculine cards and we were encouraged to use some metal on the card although it was not a requirement. Since Father's Day will be here shortly I thought I would share everyone's cards here. All of the gals did a fine job and the cards are very different.

This first card was done by Bonnie. She stamped the cowboy boots and cut them out the old fashioned way and used the "Old West" Cricut cartridge to cut out the wagon wheel and fence. To get cosmic bonus points for using metal she added a bit of wire on the fence wound like rope and bent a small piece of thicker wire for the horseshoe. I think she deserves double bonus points. I love the little seed beeds on the wagon wheel, just a touch of masculine bling.

More masculine cards will be coming so keep an eye out.
JRhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17666933670041418512noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3988446846092728512.post-31725135670845671062012-03-10T20:24:00.000-08:002012-03-10T20:24:35.521-08:00Flower Power

Hi everyone. Els of Elizabeth Crafts designed this card using her shimmer sheetz and stickers. It was my favorite when I took her class. I normally will not make a card that requires a lot of intricate cutting, but I put on my patience hat to complete this card. Most of her cards are quite easy to make and I highly recommend taking her class if you live in an area where she teaches.

I like the texture in this card as well as the bling. I think it works well for hannukah too.
I always like non-traditional colors for Christmas so I thought I would share some of the cards made with blue tones. These are all pretty easy too. If you have any questions about any of the cards I have posted just ask and I will give you more details.
Do you remember when Hero Arts used to have card kits that teachers could use to teach classes? I really liked those classes and was so sad when they stopped doing them. I found these cards from several years ago and thought I would share them as they are all pretty easy to do and use the great stamps and easy techniques that we all appreciate from Hero Arts.

There is not much more time before Christmas so I thought I would post some quick and easy cards that I have made. These cards were made in past years, but they are all easy to do and get in the mail quickly. If I were making it today I would stamp the greeting in the one above with a much darker ink.

Another Dreamweavers stencil - this time using my favorite glitter technique. I may have described it before, but just in case here we go again. You rub bar soap (Dreamweavers recommends a coconut soap that they sell and I concur) liberally over the back of the brass stencil, then take a large soft stencil brush and even out the soap bits (be sure to elimiate any large pieces of soap on the stencil or in the nooks and crannies of the design) then put the soap side down on the sticky side of some sticky paper or double sided tape that has been cut to the size of the stencil. At this point you can just pour the green glitter over the top (or as I did here you can carefully put the yellow glitter over the star and tap off, then the brown glitter for the base and tap off and then the green over the rest and tap off). Next carefully remove the tape (or sticky paper) from the stencil and dip the whole thing in white glitter. Voila! You will have a wonderful glittery image which you can mount on your project. As a side note the Happy Holidays was done with a stencil and green paste.

Give it a try it is so easy.
I made this card a couple of years ago, but I still like it which is unusal for me. Hope you are all ready for the holidays.
This card was made last year using a stamp put out by The Cat's Pajamas. This stamp was my favorite last year. Do check out Alma's website if you like whimsical stamps by clicking here. She has lots of critter stamps and a great gallery with good project ideas. I met Alma several years ago when I was first learning how to stamp and I took many classes from her. She is a very creative lady and I learned so much from her.

The card above also uses some of the great silver shimmer sheetz and Elizabeth Craft glitter which I adhered with a Quickie glue pen and a bit of Denami paper that I found in my scraps stash.

Ho Ho Ho,
This card was made at Scrapbooking Made Simple as a Make & Take last year. If I recall correctly it was designed by Jennifer Priest who teaches at the shop. I love all the layers and the fact that it really was easy with all the great papers that are out during the holidays.

Hope you are all on Santa's nice list.

I'm back... I know it has been awhile since I posted, but real life has really been getting in the way of fun and holiday crafting. My husband took some photos of cards that I have done in years past and a few new ones so I am going to try and post a few holiday cards over the next few days.

This card was made using a new Dreamweavers stencil. Different colors of metal were used, then sanded so the silver metal would show through, then cut into strips, glued to a piece of cardstock and finally cut into the tree shape. This particular stencil made this quite easy as there were already horizontal lines to follow.

I really liked working with the metal and will have to do it more often.

This months swap with my local group is going to the dogs... Well actually the theme is animals, but as you know I particularly love dogs so I had to go there. I rarely color, but I got out my colored pencils and gave it my best shot. I still struggle with markers, Copic or otherwise so I am sticking with my chalks and pencils. I think the bling DCWV paper makes everything look good.
